To the Lady Who Cared

Today I paid attention and noticed how many wonderful and kind people are around me!

I was running late with my chores, so dinner had to be store bought. My husband offered to bake the potatoes in the microwave (5 min and ready!), so kids and I stopped by Costco to buy their rotisserie chicken. We got a few other things and rushed out the door. Surprisingly, the line was super quick - a big thanks to Costco staff for keeping things moving fast on a busy Friday night!

When I was pushing my gigantic Costco shopping cart with three (heavy) items in it towards my car, I noticed that on one side of it two parking spots were empty. Since our trunk is broken and I can't just click a button for it to pop open and stay open, I was glad for that empty spot where I could park my cart and load things onto the passenger's seat.

Kids jumped into the car and just as I was pushing my cart around the corner of my car, a car was swirling into the parking lot next to me - not the one over.

At first, I felt disappointed, but then I quickly let it go. It was almost 6 p.m. by then and with my hypoglycemia I could barely stay on my feet feeling absolutely starved. All I could think of was food, food, food!

A nice looking woman came out of that car. She has almost passed my car when she stopped and turned around to talk to me. She said, "I hope I didn't do anything wrong. I just parked and I hope I didn't scare you (she was very close to my shopping cart parking in). I hope I didn't do anything wrong."

I repeated a few times that she didn't and everything was fine, as I was unloading my shopping cart.  Because I was so hungry and tired by the end of the day and only wanted to get home fast, I could not put a smile on my face. But I felt appreciation for her care.

What I feel embarrassed about is that I didn't stop what I was doing to show that appreciation! No, not embarrassed - sad. It was very nice of her to stop and make sure she did not offend me. It was very thoughtful and kind. I should have paid her my attention the way she did it to me.

Anyway, I felt very warm inside when she did it. I thought about her all the way home and how nice a world is with people like her in it. She realized when she parked what I was planning on doing with my shopping cart, not before and she felt bad and cared enough to apologize for it.

Do you stop and pay attention to other's acts of kindness?
